Why I Ride

Its addictive. For headspace. To chat with friends. For coffee. To see what’s around the corner or over the hill.

To be able to wear the kit!

What I Ride

Bianchi & Cube

Favourite Race so far

My first ever endurance event – The Team Joe Barr 200 in May 2021.

Brilliant event, brilliant people. The longest, hardest day out on my bike so far!

An endurance highlight

The support & encouragement from my family and team during the TJB 200, then crossing the finish line to a smiling Joe & Jill !

My most challenging moment

The cold wind and non-stop rain on the first edition of the Mondello 24hrs in October 2021.

Wet, miserable conditions lap after lap for hours! Found it very difficult to keep the pedals turning but we did.

What I tell myself to keep the bike moving forward

It’s like a little mantra….’me, my bike, my road, C’mon’… repeated over and over.

Racing or Riding Goals

Mizen to Malin (Ireland’s famous south to north point to point) in 24hrs or less in 2024

500km + for Mondello24 in 2024

What endurance teaches me

I’ve more to give than I give myself credit for.

What I’m learning is that endurance is a long team game, it’s about where you will be in 10, 20 or 100km’s time, how will you feel when you get there and how will you and your team manage that ?

Endurance cycling is about being able to manage what’s coming without knowing exactly what that may be. It’s also about putting complete trust in your team, especially in your crew chief, and letting them do their job and accepting their decisions.

Favourite treat-food on the bike

Raisin & biscuit yorkie but i’m open to suggestions!!
