TEAM JOE BARR UMCA WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT

On July 28th, 2017, Team Joe Barr will attempt the UMCA World Record from Malin Head to Mizen Head to Malin End.

I already hold this point to point record so why attempt it a second time?

Because I keep discovering new edges of performance and I want to explore them with the support of my crew. Together we want to maximise our potential as an world endurance team.

Time is the ultimate endurance competitor. It is constant, relentless and shows no favour. It does not stop to eat or sleep.

Time waits for no person.

To race against this single true competitor is oddly magical because it is a pure measure of capability. It is a mirror that tells no stories, if you are willing to look.

Team Joe Barr set the World UMCA Record from the most Northerly point in Ireland to the most Southerly point and back again in June 2015.

It is 772.1 miles (depending on roadworks and diversions!), which took a non-stop 49 hours and 29 seconds.

On July 28th we leave Malin Head at noon. Our goal is to complete the course in less than 48 hours.

We race against time once again. Is it possible to go under 48 hours?

Ernest Hemingway said, “It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end.”

My next start and finish line approaches. It is good to have this end to journey towards but I can say with utter clarity that no matter what this Record attempt brings it really is the journey that matters, in the end.
