As a seasoned marathon runner, I was aware of the pitfalls of not being fully prepared in terms of nutrition in the lead up to a marathon.

In my preparation for this years Amsterdam marathon, I was introduced to Jillian Mooney by my friend and colleague Brian Lyons. Brian is an endurance cyclist and member of BarrUltra.

After my first meeting with Jill, it was easy to see she understood my requirements in terms of maintaining pace in the final stages of a marathon and not feeling weak and empty as the milage increased.

Jill prepared a meal plan for me on a month-by-month basis and a final plan for the week leading up to the race itself.

It was noticeable how my energy levels and pace increased in the final weeks of training and ultimately paying off in the marathon itself by maintaining a 6 minute and 50 second average pace per mile through out the race.

A massive part of Jills plan is recovery and sleep, which is something I have overlooked in the past. Again, as testament to her plan I recovered from each training session quickly and was prepared and fuelled for the next.

It has been just a few days since the Amsterdam marathon and I have no tiredness or injury, just looking forward to the next one.  In short, I cannot recommend Jillian Mooney highly enough for long distance or marathon runners.
